Puppies!!
Our Anatolian Shepherd had her second litter on Thursday, March 18th 2010. She had seven.
This is them at one week and one day of age. Aren't they adorable? ^_^
The Anatolian Shepherd originated from Turkey where they were, and still are, goat and sheep herders. They're quite independant and intelligent, so don't expect them to play fetch.
They're also really big. The females can get to be around ninety pounds, while the males can easily reach one-nundred and fifty pounds.
They're outside dogs usually, and they like to roam around to patrol what they see as their territory, but our neighbors don't mind since they've been keeping the coyotes away for years.
That's not to say that they wouldn't make good pets. In the litter that we had last year(technically two years ago, they were born on New Years Eve), one of the pups went to a family as an indoor/outdoor pet. Just remember that this breed needs plenty of affection and exercise.
Can't wait!
But be careful. I had an Anatolian/Great Parinese years ago, and he was quite the nutter. Make sure he gets a lot of socialization.
Really? What do you mean?
I'm not saying your mix'll be like that (we think he was just psycho, and I'm not sure if the breeder was 100% credible), I'm just saying to be careful, and let him/her be around a lot of people as young as you can and as often as you can.
Yeah, I'm hoping she'll be ok. We're planning on having her be with lots of people (my friends can't wait to meet her!) and schedule some puppy play dates once she's a little bigger.
But since she's only 8 weeks, I'm hoping it won't be too hard to get her comfortable with people and other animals. Thanks for the advice! C:
And we got him when he was six weeks. I dunno if that has any relevance, but meh.
(Hm, maybe it was just the dog then? I dunno)
